These are truly trying times. A year ago, it would have been unthinkable that our communities would become so adversely affected by anything such as a pandemic. However, the way we live and go about our days has changed drastically in the last several months. Music, and choral singing in particular, has unfortunately been sidelined through this pandemic, and the end is not yet in sight. In light of this, EMCA has made the difficult yet necessary decision to cancel all fall programs.
Eastman Youth Choir (EMYC) is cancelled for the fall. We want to thank all those young people who auditioned for the choir this summer. It was shaping up to be another amazing season for EMYC. Our sights are now focused on Fall 2021.
EMCA’s annual Choral Workshop is also cancelled for this fall. We realize that schools are still coming to terms with how their music classes will run come September, and that school mandates will make such an event impossible.
And finally, EMCA’s annual Peace Concert, held every November, is also cancelled.
We look forward to the day where we can all come together and sing again, to share in the experience of building our communities through music.
